The Fujisaki Hachibangu Festival, which has a history of more than 1,000 years, was held on September 14.

This festival forms part of the Kumamoto Historical Town Development Plan, and is a festival that forms the historical flavor of the castle town’s festivals and other events.

The festival originated from “Houjoe” and has been handed down from generation to generation, but it has a history of being called “Zuibyo”  and being familiar to people.

*Hojoe is a ritual or puja in which captured creatures are released into ponds and fields to offer offer offerings and thanksgiving.
